Romelu Lukaku lands in Milan to seal Inter loan return

Lukaku is set to don the black and blue of Inter once again

Romelu Lukaku has landed in Milan to seal a sensational loan move back to Inter - the club he left for Chelsea just one year ago.

Chelsea and Inter agreed terms over the striker's return last week following what was a hugely underwhelming comeback season at Stamford Bridge.

Although a two-year loan, an option to buy and an obligation to buy were all discussed, 90min understands the two parties settled on a straight season-long loan deal for the 29-year-old - although there is scope for renegotiation in the future.

Lukaku touched down in Milan early on Wednesday morning ahead of completing his return to Inter, with a video shared by DAZN Italia showing him posing for photos with a Nerazzurri scarf before getting into a waiting car.

"I'm too happy to be back," he told the cameras.

Lukaku endured a torrid season with Chelsea in 2021/22 following a £97.5m move from the then-Serie A champions last August, scoring just eight Premier League goals.

Poor form, a bout of Covid-19, an injury and an ill-advised interview with Italian media - in which the striker professed his love for his former club - ultimately derailed his season.

Such was his desire to go back to Inter, Lukaku has taken a pay cut to smoothen the deal. Inter will pay an €8m loan fee, which could rise to €10m with add-ons.
