Transfer Gossip: Conte planning blockbuster reunion for Italy star with Liverpool tipped for transfer hijack; clause makes shock Cristiano Ronaldo move possible

Federico Dimarco of FC Internazionale celebrates with Nicolo Barella of FC Internazionale after scoring a goal during the Serie A football match between UC Sampdoria and FC Internazionale

Tottenham are plotting a huge move for Nicolo Barella, though Liverpool may yet spring in action, Cristiano Ronaldo is closing on his next club as long as he makes a new commitment to Manchester United, while Sunday’s Transfer Gossip has an update on Neymar amid talk of a move to Chelsea and Manchester City.

TOTTENHAM PLANNING STUNNING MOVE FOR NICOLO BARELLA

Antonio Conte is looking to reunite with Nicolo Barella at Tottenham this summer amid reports of a blockbuster raid on Inter Milan.

The Italy midfielder, 25, was one of the mainstays of Conte’s side at Inter, the two men enjoying Serie A title success in 2020.

Barella has established himself as one of the best midfielders in world football at Inter. Becoming a mainstay of their side, he is also pivotal for Italy, winning 39 caps.

The now Spurs manager has always been a huge admirer of the player. Now reports in Italy claim they may be reunited at Tottenham, with the Premier League side plotting a huge raid on the Nerazzurri.

As per Il Messagero, Spurs are plotting a raid for his services.

And despite strengthening their central midfield unit by signing Yves Bissouma, they are also seemingly keen on Barella.

Any deal, however, would not come cheap. Barella is contracted to the San Siro until 2026 and they rate him in the £60m bracket.

However, with Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele unlikely to play for Spurs again, Conte is looking for reinforcements. The Tottenham boss is also looking to offload Harry Winks too, leaving his midfield options light.

He wants to add one more alongside Rodrigo Bentancur, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp and Bissouma.

And Barella could be that man with Conte seeing the Italian in a more advanced midfield role.

Liverpool could yet spring into action for Nicolo Barella

Interest from Tottenham in Barella could yet spring Liverpool into action, the Daily Mirror suggests.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is looking for a new midfielder, with efforts to sign Aurelien Tchouameni failing earlier this summer.

And while Jude Bellingham looks a transfer option for Liverpool next summer, Klopp has always been a huge fan of Barella. Indeed, a report in June claimed Klopp is ‘bewitched’ by the Inter schemer.

Now the Mirror speculates that any move by Spurs could see Liverpool try to muscle in on any deal.

Klopp recently played down claims he will look to strengthen his midfield, listing all the options at his disposal.

But with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain potentially being sold, this will likely be James Milner’s final season.

Furthermore, Thiago and Jordan Henderson are both the wrong side of 30 – meaning they will ultimately need replacing.

Whether they move for Barella remains to be seen. But if Spurs to make moves to land him, don’t be surprised if Liverpool also consider an approach.

ATLETICO GROWING HOPEFUL OVER CRISTIANO RONALDO DEAL

Manchester United are willing to let Cristiano Ronaldo leave this summer, amid growing talk of a move to Atletico Madrid.

The Portuguese superstar seemingly wants to quit Old Trafford after becoming frustrated by their lack of progress. Finishing sixth last season, Ronaldo was the only player who hit the heights for the Red Devils.

And a lack of progress on the transfer front, together with a wish to still play in the Champions League, means Ronaldo could depart.

A number of big-name suitors have been linked – and now it seems Atletico Madrid are the favourites.

As per the Sunday Mirror, United could sanction his exit if a condition is met.

They claim the Red Devils will allow him to depart – but only on a loan. And they want Ronaldo to sign a one-year extension to his contract first.

That will mean the player signing for Atleti on a one-year deal, before returning to play for Manchester United in the 2023/24 season.

By that season, the player will be turning 39. However, United seemingly think he can still do a job then.

Furthermore, Atletico are reportedly looking to free up space in their squad for Ronaldo.

The Times claims they have put Antoine Griezmann on their transfer list to make room for Ronaldo.

The Spanish club need to free up some capital and want Griezmann, 31, gone to pay for the 37-year-old.

NEYMAR REVEALS FUTURE AMID CHELSEA, MAN CITY LINKS

Neymar has dismissed reports he could leave PSG this summer amid links to two Premier League giants.

The Brazilian star is one of several attacking options on the books of PSG. Indeed, they have just signed Hugo Ekitike to add to Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Mauro Icardi and Neymar.

As such, reports have indicated that they are willing to sell the 30-year-old.

Those reports have gathered pace in recent weeks amid talk of a move to Chelsea.

However, Neymar is adamant he does not want to leave the French capital this summer.

Speaking after the win over Urawa Red Diamonds, Neymar appears settled with the Ligue 1 giants.

“I want to stay at PSG. I don’t know about the club, because they’ve never said anything to me.

“I have a contract for several years here. There you go. For now, they’ve said nothing.”

Neymar has come in for some flak in recent times, after failing to lead PSG to their Champions League goal.

However, the Brazilian insists his conscience is clear.

“The truth is that I have nothing to prove to anyone. People speak too much because they can do nothing else.

“They know me, they know how I am, how I play. I have nothing to show. I love playing football, I’m happy.”
