Chelsea miss out on football’s most in demand recruitment brain

David Ornstein’s Monday morning column is always full of interest for Chelsea fans, and this week is no different.

His exclusive this time is on Michael Edwards, the former Liverpool sporting director.

Ornstein has been reporting that Chelsea are desperate to sign up the impressive figure to try to conduct a similar transformation at Stamford Bridge to the one he managed at Anfield, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen.

Having thought long and hard about it – and presumably been offered incredible money by Todd Boehly, Edwards has decided to stay true to his original intentions and move away from the Premier League, at least for now.

It’s a blow for Chelsea, especially as he would be available now. As Ornstein points out, the other leading candidates are all working now, so Chelsea are likely going to have to wait until the window is closed now before they find the man to lead them forward.
