Jesper Lindstrom says he is “insanely happy” to read of transfer interest from Arsenal and has admitted he could be open to a move to progress his career.
Arsenal have reportedly opened preliminary talks over a transfer for the Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder. German outlet Bild claim that the Gunners have been in contact with the player’s representatives.
For the moment though Lindstrom “states that he has not heard anything from Arsenal at this time”. Interest in him though is widespread with a lot of Europe’s big guns said to be watching him including Man City, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Lindstrom offers versatility that plenty of managers are looking for in the modern game. He can play as a central playmaker or as a winger and in his breakthrough season last term he caught the eye of a number of scouts.
He scored five goals and landed nine assists after arriving from Brondby and his price tag sits around the £17m mark. And Mikel Arteta, who was believed to be looking for a winger and a midfielder could kill two birds with one stone.
Youri Tielemans was a long-term target for Arteta, but his £25m price tag has put off the Gunners. Especially when his contract expires at the King Power next June and will be available on a free transfer.
The 22-year-old also has experience of helping Frankfurt to Europa League glory last season. And the Denmark international has admitted to Tipsbladet that the interest from the Gunners has been flattering.
“It is hard not to read along when articles appear on your Facebook, Instagram and other social media,” said Lindstrom.

“So of course, I read it, but I don’t take it too seriously. The transfer window is not open at all right now, so I’m just giving it my all and waiting to see what happens.
“It’s always great to play in the biggest league in the world, but whether Arsenal is right for me is hard to say.
“Right now, I’m in a good place in Frankfurt, but it’s great that there are clubs like them that are watching me. Something may have to happen at some point, but right now I’m fine.
“It’s a huge confidence boost. It’s one of the biggest things as a footballer, so I’m obviously insanely happy.”
Frankfurt, who are seventh in the Bundesliga, have Lindstrom under contract until the summer of 2026.
Lindstrom will go down in Frankfurt’s history books after scoring the club’s first ever Champions League goal this month. He netted in the 1-0 away win over Marseille to further enhance his glowing reputation.
