Didier Deschamps puts positive spin on Griezmann’s ’30 minute’ situation

After a month of club footballing action, the international break will soon be upon us, as teams look to lock horns with each other a few more times before the 2022 FIFA World Cup gets underway.

One of the tournament’s favourites is France, with coach Didier Deschamps recently calling up a few Barcelona players, along with Antoine Griezmann, for the upcoming Nations League encounters.

The French national team coach even offered his thoughts on the Griezmann situation, especially after the attacker was subjected to no more than 30 minutes per game by Atletico Madrid, in their attempt to avoid the €40 million clause which is applicable in 2023.

Instead of reacting to Griezmann’s ordeal, though, Deschamps put a rather positive spit on his situation, stating the lack of game-time he is getting at Atletico Madrid could lead to the attacker remaining less tired when he plies his trade for France later this month.

“It’s a situation that you all know. I don’t want to go into the situation that he is experiencing with his club. He will be less tired,” he said (h/t Diario SPORT)

Deschamps, though, did acknowledge Griezmann’s situation. He believes the attacker should play far more often and the upcoming international break may even help gain the desired game-time.

“He is still a decisive player in his club and obviously he aspires to play more, he plays 30 minutes. It could be a good time for him to play more minutes with us,” Deschamps added.

Finding regular game-time in the French team might not be as much, though. Les Bleus, after all, have called up other top attackers in the list including Ousmane Dembele, who has enjoyed a rapid revival since the turn of the year.

Another Barcelona player selected for the French team was Jules Kounde. The young Frenchman is regarded as one of the finest defensive talents and his technical prowess could go a long way in dictating the fate of Real Madrid this season.
