Tottenham Hotspur winger Lucas Moura has been linked with a move away from the London club recently.
The 30-year-old was heavily linked with other Premier League clubs during the summer transfer window but Spurs decided to hold on to him.
Moura has played just 12 minutes of Premier League football this season and Football Insider are now reporting that he is prepared to leave the club on a free transfer at the end of the season if things do not change soon.
The report states: “The player’s stance is that he is out of contract at the end of the season and keen to explore other opportunities if he remains on the fringes.”
The Brazilian has struggled for regular action with the likes of Dejan Kulusevski preferred ahead of him. Furthermore, Spurs decided to bring in players like Richarlison who will be ahead of the Brazilian in the pecking order as well.
It will be interesting to see if Moura can force his way into Antonio Conte’s first team plans over the next few weeks.
The 30-year-old can be a useful squad player for Tottenham and he has the ability to change games in their favour with his pace, flair and intelligence.
Moura has been linked with a return to Brazil with São Paulo reportedly keeping tabs on the situation.
Losing a player of his calibre on a free transfer would be a blow for Tottenham and it remains to be seen whether they can convince him to sign a short extension with them so that they can recoup some money for him next summer.
Right now, it seems unlikely that the Brazilian will get ample game time at the London club and therefore it is fair to assume that his long-term future lies away from Spurs.
