Graham Potter is putting a plan in place to seal his first Chelsea signing in the January transfer window, while Friday’s Transfer Gossip claims that Nottingham Forest are ready to move for the ‘new Kaka’.

POTTER TARGETS FIRST CHELSEA SIGNING

New Chelsea boss Graham Potter could look to make RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol his first signing at Stamford Bridge in the January transfer window.

The Blues officially announced Potter as their new boss on Thursday after he left Premier League rivals Brighton.

Potter has signed a five-year deal at Stamford Bridge and has been assured by owner Todd Boehly that he will be given funds to bolster his squad in the new year.

And it appears that the Englishman already has his eyes on January, with the Blues set to renew their interest in Gvardiol, according to Bild.

Chelsea tried to land the Croatian over the summer. Indeed, they are said to have tabled a bid worth around £77million.

That deal would have seen Gvardiol remain at Leipzig on loan until the end of the season. He would then have linked up with Chelsea in the summer of 2023.

However, Leipzig were in no mood to sell late in the transfer window.

That could all change in January, however, with Chelsea expected to try Leipzig’s resolve once again.

FOREST CHASING BRAZILIAN PLAYMAKER

Sao Paulo are struggling to tie Igor Gomes down to a new contract as Nottingham Forest reportedly decide whether to make a move for the player dubbed the ‘new Kaka’ in the January transfer window.

Gomes will be a free agent from March 2023. To that end, he has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League.

And the fact that his contract is running down means Sao Paulo will have to do business in the new year if they want to receive a fee for the player.

Journalist Jorge Nicola claims Forest have shown an interest, who turned down a loan move to West Ham last year.

But if he does sign, the report adds that the 23-year-old could then be loaned out to Greek side Olympiakos

The loan path is one Forest followed with summer signings Josh Bowler and Hwang Ui Jo.

But from Sao Paulo’s point of view their technical director Muricy Ramalho remains hopeful Gomes will still sign a new deal.

BARCA TO RENEW INTEREST IN £86M MAN CITY STAR

Barcelona are ready to make another move to sign Manchester City star Bernardo Silva in 2023.

The Catalan giants were strongly linked with the Portugal international over the summer. However, Pep Guardiola was able to keep hold of one of his star performers.

But now SPORT claims that Barca have not given up on the idea of completing a deal.

The report adds that Xavi feels Silva is the missing piece in his Nou Camp puzzle.

City stood firm over the summer, demanding a fee in the region of £86million. And that stance is unlikely to change for a player who is still under contract until 2025.
