Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd plotting January raid for £45m-rated Diogo Dalot upgrade; Real Madrid to stun Chelsea with move for top defensive star

Manchester United are ready to step up their efforts to land an upgrade on Diogo Dalot at right-back in the January transfer window, while Real Madrid could launch a stunning raid on Chelsea for an in-form defender – both in Friday’s Euro Paper Talk.

BAD NEWS FOR DALOT AS UNITED EYE INTER ACE

Manchester United are reportedly readying an offer for Inter Milan defender and Dutch international Denzel Dumfries.

Erik ten Hag is looking for United to challenge for major trophies again, and despite Diogo Dalot’s impressive start to the season he sees right-back as an area he wants to upgrade.

Back-up full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka has hardly featured and could even be moved on in January.

That, in turn, will lead the Red Devils towards a move for Inter star Dumfries in the new year, according to Calcio Mercato Web.

The report states that Dumfries will welcome the opportunity to work under fellow countryman Ten Hag at Old Trafford.

Attacking full-backs key to Ten Hag style

Once his system of play is fully ironed out with his players, Ten Hag is expected to put a lot of emphasis on having attacking full-backs – which is where Tyrell Malacia and Dumfries fit in.

The potential addition of the Netherlands star would be incredibly harsh on Dalot, who has done nothing wrong.

However, Ten Hag wants to put his own stamp on this United side and still feels there are a few signings away from being contenders.

After a nervy Europa League win on Thursday night, United are back in Premier League action on Sunday when they head to Everton.
