With Barcelona’s fate in the UEFA Champions League already sealed, manager Xavi Hernandez seems all set to rest some of his key players for their final Group C encounter against Viktoria Plzen.
Reports indicate that ace striker and top goalscorer Robert Lewandowski will not be travelling to the Czech Republic for the game this week.
On top of that, Albert Roge is now reporting that as many as four La Masia prospects are likely to be on the plane for the trip to Plzen.
The four youngsters who are set to be called up by Xavi are Marc Casado, Alvaro Sanz, Ilias Akhomach and Alex Valle.
Casado has been in and around the first-team setup quite a bit this season, with Xavi rating him highly for his versatility as he can provide cover in defensive midfield and at right-back as well.
The teenager was on the bench in both matches against Inter Milan in the Champions League, as well as a couple of La Liga games. And he could be given his first-team debut on Tuesday night.
Akhomach and Sanz have already made their senior debuts last season but have not been called up to any matches in the ongoing campaign. Valle, on the other hand, has not had any taste of first-team football as of yet and could be looking forward to the opportunity.
All four players have been regulars for the Barça Atletic side under Rafa Marquez and have done well this term. It will be interesting to see if any or all of them get a chance to make an impression with the senior team against Viktoria Plzen on Tuesday.
