Man Utd news: Marcus Rashford told why he ‘would benefit massively’ from joining Arsenal to mimic ‘sensational’ star

Marcus Rashford would be wise to listen to any transfer offer from Arsenal – and so should Manchester United, according to a pundit.

Rashford has been looking more like himself this season after a disappointing 2021-22 campaign. He has already matched his goal tally from last term, getting to five goals from eight games in all competitions this time around.

Also providing three assists, his form has helped take some of the pressure away from the Cristiano Ronaldo situation.

However, with his contract expiring at the end of the season, there have been some doubts about Rashford’s future. Manchester United can extend his commitment by a further 12 months, but Erik ten Hag may prefer for them to wait.

In the meantime, Rashford has become the subject of links with Arsenal. The Gunners have supposedly made his representatives aware of their interest.

Manchester United might still be looking for a fee in the region of £50million, despite his contract situation. But a deal could suit all parties – at least according to Stan Collymore.

The former Liverpool striker has shared his opinion that Rashford could emulate another attacking signing Arsenal recently made from a Manchester club – ex-City star, Gabriel Jesus.

What’s more, he feels the 24-year-old would avoid any potential stagnation by making the change.

Marcus Rashford could deal with Arsenal ‘pressure’

Collymore told Caught Offside: “Marcus Rashford would be a great fit for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

“Away from the pitch, he’s done some great work. But in footballing terms, he’s been a Manchester United player for so long that I worry familiarity is breeding contempt.

“A perfect example of when a player makes the decision to switch things up and move clubs and it benefits all parties is Gabriel Jesus. Since he left Manchester City and joined Arsenal earlier this year, he has been sensational and arguably the biggest contributor to the Gunners’ incredible form.

“But back to Rashford – he knows what it’s like to play for a massive club, so I would have no doubts that he could deal with the pressure of playing for Arsenal.

“I think Rashford would benefit massively from a move at this stage in his career. He’s only 24 years old, so he still has plenty of football left to play.

“From Man Utd’s perspective, if it were up to me, I would let him go and take the money for him, and it would be good money too. You’re easily going to be talking £60million, maybe more.

“I think that scenario would be good for United, good for Arsenal and good for the player himself.”

What next for Man Utd attacker?

So far, Rashford has spent his entire senior career with Manchester United. In total, he has scored 98 goals from 311 appearances for them.

While last season was a blip, he remains a player who has the potential to carve out an important legacy at Old Trafford. But perhaps a fresh challenge elsewhere in the Premier League would be worth considering.

Rashford’s ability to play as a centre-forward or a winger, to a good standard, would make him an asset for most teams.

For now, he will be focusing on what he is doing with Manchester United. The prospect of an England recall for the World Cup in November may also be on his mind.

In the New Year, though, it could be all about his future at club level. Rashford could have a decision to make.

But while he is back in form with Manchester United, it makes sense for him to prioritise them. Whatever happens, he will be out to prove himself and continue the process of rebuilding his reputation as a footballer.
