Rangers told to 'get rid of' Morelos after confirmed news - pundit

Frank McAvennie has told Rangers to “get rid of” Alfredo Morelos.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said Morelos is not “fighting for his future” at Ibrox.

The 26-year-old has made eight Scottish Premiership appearances for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side so far this season.

He has started on the bench for seven of those games.

The Colombia international’s current contract runs out in the summer and he will be free to open pre-contract negotiations with other clubs from January.

As quoted by FootballScotland (16 October), Giovanni van Bronckhorst said he “doesn’t know the status” of the striker’s contract talks.

The Gers boss added that he would like the forward to sign sooner rather than later but it requires agreement from both sides.

McAvennie insisted it is time for the Light Blues to let Morelos leave.

I am sorry Rangers fans but I would get rid of him,” he told Football Insider.

He waddles about the pitch, he does not chase anything. If somebody kicks him he is kidding on that he got hurt.

You should be fighting for your future and he is not. Colak will go and fight for the ball in the box, Morelos does not do that.

Morelos missed the end of the 2021-22 Premiership season after a thigh injury.

The Colombian been kept out of the Rangers side this season by summer signing Antonio Colak, the league’s top scorer so far this season.
