Harry Kane breaks Jimmy Greaves' record to become Tottenham's all-time top scorer

Harry Kane has written his name in the Tottenham history boks

Harry Kane scored the 267th Tottenham goal of an incredible career in N17 to become the club’s all-time leading goalscorer ahead of Spurs icon Jimmy Greaves.

Kane’s landmark strike put Spurs ahead just 15 minutes into the Premier League clash against Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, having already drawn level with Greaves on 266 when he scored the winner against Fulham on 23 January.

The late Greaves, who sadly passed away at the age of 81 in 2021, scored his 266th and final goal for Spurs in 1970, going on to continue his career at West Ham.

The goal itself was relatively straightforward, with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg winning the ball high up the pitch after a loose pass from Manchester City midfielder Rodri and laying off to Kane in space in the penalty area. The finish was as clinical as expected, low across the goal.

The record-breaking goal was Kane’s 18th of the season in all competitions and 16th in the Premier League. He looks set to go over 20 league goals for only the second time since a 30-goal haul in 2017/18. It is also likely to be a ninth straight season with more than 20 in all competitions.

It is that kind of consistency over the years which has seen Kane break the record.

He made his Spurs debut back in 2011, before becoming a regular first-team player in 2014 and netted 31 times in all competitions in his first full season in the senior squad in 2014/15.
