Tottenham will look to bounce back from a horrendous result at the weekend as their injury-ravaged squad travels to San Siro to face AC Milan in the first leg of their Champions League last 16 tie.
Rodrigo Bentancur, Yves Bissouma and Ryan Sessegnon have all been handed significant injury blows and on-field fortunes haven't been much better. Spurs were smashed 4-1 by Leicester on Saturday in less than ideal preparation for their return to Europe.
On Tuesday night they'll take on a Milan side that has done its fair share of recent suffering, though Stefano Pioli's team did get back to winning ways by beating Torino.
Tottenham predicted lineup vs AC Milan
GK: Fraser Forster - Forster's start to life as Hugo Lloris' replacement got off to a poor start in the 4-1 defeat at Leicester. Will need to channel peak Heurelho Gomes at San Siro.
CB: Cristian Romero - The Argentine will come back into the side having been suspended at the weekend. Has won two and lost three of his five previous meetings with Milan.
CB: Eric Dier - Is one of three players on two yellow cards, one away from suspension. Could be given the chance at redemption after a horror show at the back at the King Power Stadium.
CB: Ben Davies - Could get the nod ahead of Clement Lenglet, who is another close to suspension with two yellow cards.
RWB: Emerson Royal - Put in a season-best performance against Manchester City before being dropped for new arrival Pedro Porro at Leicester. That decision did not pay off and Emerson should come back in.
CM: Pape Matar Sarr - Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is suspended and both Yves Bissouma and Rodrigo Bentancur are out with long term injuries, leaving Spurs very short in central midfield. Sarr impressed Spurs staff at the World Cup and during the festive period and could be thrown in here.
CM: Oliver Skipp - Skipp has seen injuries stunt his progression in recent seasons. He is fit now, however, and with few alternatives it's likely he'll make just his second ever Champions League start.
LWB: Ivan Perisic - Ryan Sessegnon is out for around six weeks with a hamstring problem, leaving Perisic unchallenged at left wing back. Will be returning to San Siro having won Serie A with Inter.
RW: Dejan Kulusevski - A rare anonymous performance from the Swede at Leicester. Will have something to prove on his return to Italy, where he played for Atalanta, Parma and Juventus.
ST: Harry Kane - Has found plenty of form to start 2023 but has scored only once in the Champions League this season. Was an unused substitute on loan at Leyton Orient the night that Spurs won at San Siro in 2011.
LW: Son Heung-min - The case for Richarlison's introduction at the expense of Son is growing by the week. Would still be a huge call to leave him out.
