Manchester United are in talks over a deal for a France defender and also fancy a USA attacker, Leeds and Arsenal are battling to sign a Swiss forward, while Tuesday’s Euro Paper Talk claims Liverpool are to spend big on a Napoli midfielder.
AXEL DISASI HOLDS TALKS OVER MAN UTD TRANSFER
Manchester United have held a round of talks over a potential deal for Monaco defender Axel Disasi, according to reports in France.
The 25-year-old defender, capable of playing at centre-half or covering at right-back, is regarded as one of Ligue 1’s best defenders. Indeed, he’s been linked with a plethora of clubs on the back of an excellent season that saw him rewarded with a place in France’s World Cup squad.
Highly-rated by both Raphael Varane and Paul Scholes, Disasi has made 39 appearances this season, scoring three times.
Known as a no-nonsense defender, he would appear to tick Erik ten Hag’s quest to add more cover in defence this summer.
And in covering two positions, it is easy to see why the Dutchman is keen to land his signing.
Now, according to Foot Mercato, United held talks with the player and his representatives over a move.
And they claim Manchester United are ‘strongly interested’ in completing the signing of Disasi.
Monaco reportedly value the player at around the £44m (€50m) mark, with his deal not expiring until 2025.
And it seems the player is also keen to make the move, revealing his wish to play in the Premier League when questioned last summer.
He told RMC Sport: “I like England, it’s a very exciting championship. Let’s say it’s my favourite championship. And between Paris and the Premier League, the place where I can progress the most.”
Man Utd want Pulisic to follow Disasi to Old Trafford
With a deal for Disasi seemingly progressing, Ten Hag is also turning his attentions back towards his forward line.
And with Anthony Martial likely to make way, reports claim United are reigniting their interest in signing Christian Pulisic.
The USA winger has cut an unhappy figure at Chelsea this season and appears destined to move on.
The Blues would be open to his sale but would reportedly rather Pulisic moves abroad. To that end, Juventus are among his admirers.
But Ten Hag reportedly wants ‘Captain America’ to sign for the Red Devils and is seemingly considering a move.
Chelsea value the 24-year-old at around the £37m mark -a fee well within United’s reach.
It is not the first time United have tried to sign Pulisic either. Back in 2019, during the Jose Mourinho era, the Red Devils tried to beat Chelsea to his signing from Borussia Dortmund.
However, one of the player’s former coaches suggested he did not want to play for the fiery Portuguese coach.
Robin Walker told the Daily Telegraph: “I’m a Chelsea fan, I grew up in London supporting them. When I was in Dortmund last year, I told him that he had to come.
“He wouldn’t go to Manchester United because of Jose Mourinho. His father couldn’t stand Mourinho because he didn’t promote young players.”
Now United will be hoping it is a case of second time lucky.
