The PL bottom nine head-to-head table in 2022-23: Everton in trouble…

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford reacts during the Premier League match at Goodison Park, Liverpool.

The Premier League relegation battle has been closer than ever this season as just two points separate Bournemouth in 18th to Leeds United in 13th.

Several sides still face the possibility of relegation this season and we’ve checked out each of their head-to-head records against each other to see where each club stands.

Southampton have struggled to gather momentum all season and it won’t come as much of a surprise to learn that they come bottom of this ranking.

After parting company with Ralph Hasenhuttl, it didn’t take long before his successor Nathan Jones was also shown the door. The Saints currently sit bottom and are four points adrift of safety.

Sean Dyche has given Everton a fighting chance as he has only lost three of his first nine games in charge. They have struggled against the sides around them though, picking up just 15 points in those matches.

Nottingham Forest currently find themselves on the longest winless run in the Premier League having not won in nine matches. Their recent defeat against Leeds was a hammer blow to their survival chances.

Compared to some of the other sides around the bottom, Leeds have done fairly well in their head-to-head matches. So far they have averaged 1.50 points per game in these fixtures.

Unsurprisingly, Crystal Palace have the best record in head-to-head matches against the bottom nine. So far they have managed to average 2.11 points per game in these match-ups which is significantly more than the other sides.

Here’s every bottom nine club’s record in head-to-head clashes so far this season. There’s a large discrepancy in games played at this point so we’ve ranked them in order of their points-per-game.
