With the summer transfer window on the horizon, Barcelona are working hard to address their Financial Fair Play problems so that they can sign and register players before next season.
Player sales will be crucial for the Blaugrana to achieve their objectives though and several names have thus been identified as possible departees, which includes misfiring forward Ferran Torres.
Signed from Manchester City in January last year, in a deal worth €55 million, Torres had a fairly positive start to life as a Barcelona player. However, over time, things have gone downhill for the former Valencia ace.
This season, the versatile forward has scored just four goals in 29 La Liga appearances (13 starts), which is not good enough considering the amount that Barcelona splashed for him.
While Xavi has continued to publicly back the Spanish international, reports suggest that Barcelona are indeed open to offers for Ferran in the summer.
At the same time, it has also been indicated that the club could consider loaning him out or using him in a player-exchange deal.
Amidst this, Gerard Romero is claiming that Torres has interest from clubs in the Premier League while closer to home, Atletico Madrid are also said to be keen on the 23-year-old versatile attacker.
Torres had a decent enough stint at Manchester City which seems to have done enough for clubs in England to consider signing him in the summer transfer window.
As for Atletico Madrid, the links to Ferran go back to the winter window, and some reports have even suggested that Barcelona could be open to swapping him for Yannick Carrasco in the summer.
Given that a major chunk of his transfer fee is yet to be amortised, Barcelona can only profit from Torres’ sale if they receive a big offer for him, which would be difficult at this point given his form this season.
