Chelsea vs Leicester - WSL preview: TV channel, live stream, team news & prediction

Chelsea vs Leicester has major implications at the top and bottom of the WSL table

Chelsea will close the gap on WSL leaders Manchester United to just one point this week if they can beat Leicester in one of their two outstanding games in hand.

Having exited Europe and scraped a late win against Liverpool as April turned into May, the Blues thoroughly smashed Everton in their most recent outing on Sunday evening.

They may be second in the table and witnessed Manchester United temporarily extend their lead to seven points earlier on Sunday, but Chelsea still have their destiny in their own hands as victory in all four remaining league games would see the WSL trophy stay in their possession.

Leicester come into this one off the back of a slender 1-0 defeat to Arsenal last Friday, having found form at the right time again - they completed a great escape from relegation this time 12 months ago - and will hope to give another good account of themselves by making it difficult for Chelsea here.

Chelsea team news

Sam Kerr was withdrawn just 32 minutes into the Everton game as a result of a sickness bug she had been suffering with the night before the game.

Millie Bright remains an injury doubt, while fellow centre-back Kadeisha Buchanan has been absent since before the April international break and Fran Kirby won't play again this season.

Leicester team news

Willie Kirk has confirmed Leicester are carrying a couple of 'knocks' since facing Arsenal, but no players are definitely ruled out of contention and decisions will be left until as late as possible.

Long-term absentee Shannon O'Brien could be involved for the first time since November.

Chelsea vs Leicester score prediction

Chelsea have scored 24 goals without reply in the last three meetings between these clubs in all competitions and will again be heavy favourites, regardless of missing a few key players.

The fact that Pernille Harder came off the bench to replace Kerr against Everton and proceeded to contribute two goals and an assist is a big boost for manager Emma Hayes, having seen the Dane return to fitness in recent weeks after long-term injury and immediately make a positive impact.

Leicester have only beaten teams in the bottom half of the WSL table so far this season and have taken just a single point (against Everton) from a possible 33 in games against sides in the top six.

Prediction: Chelsea 2-0 Leicester
