KLOPP WANTS MONACO STAR YOUSSOUF FOFANA

Jurgen Klopp’s quest to strengthen his Liverpool midfielder has reportedly seen him target a move for Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana.

The Reds boss is desperate to strengthen his midfield this summer after seeing some leggy performances in his engine room. Indeed, with the club likely to miss out on a top-four finish, strengthening the area will be priority No 1 this summer.

To that end, Klopp is being linked with a series of big-name stars following news they are to shelve interest in Jude Bellingham.

And it seems he will not be short of options with multiple stars – most recently the £88m Bruno Guimaraes – seemingly on his wishlist.

However, Klopp is all too aware that buying within the Premier League will come with a premium price.

And now reports in France claim they are hot on the trail of Monaco midfielder Fofana.

The all-action midfielder has become a regular for club and country in recent times, underlining his abilities at the World Cup. Indeed, he featured in six of France’s seven games in Qatar to illustrate his growing importance.

Per reports, Monaco value the 24-year-old at around the €50m mark – a fee that has alerted a string of Premier League admirers.

That hunt is seemingly being led by Liverpool, who are huge admirers of his abilities.

Predictably, Chelsea are also keen as they seek a long-term successor to N’Golo Kante.

Liverpool want Tomori to join Fofana at Anfield

As well as some midfield recruits, Klopp is also determined to strengthen his central defence this summer.

Indeed, with Joel Matip likely to move on, Klopp is looking for another centre-half to strengthen his rearguard.

The likes of Josko Gvardiol and Evan Ndicka are among those being linked.

However, Leipzig’s huge €90m asking price for Gvardiol means he is beyond Liverpool’s means. And competition for Ndicka is tough with the player likely to turn down the Reds for a club who can offer Champions League football.

As a result, 90min claims they are one of several Premier League sides keen on bringing Fikayo Tomori back to England this summer.

The Englishman, 25, has developed into one of Serie A’s outstanding defenders during his time at AC Milan.

However, it has not aided his chances of breaking into Gareth Southgate’s England squad. As a result, the player is reportedly open to returning to the Premier League if the right offer came along.

Per the report, Arsenal, Newcastle and Liverpool are among those keen on the former Chelsea man.

And with finances tight at Milan, they are reportedly open to offers for Tomori in the region of €50m.

The prospective double deal for Tomori and Fofana would set Liverpool backed a combined £88m (€100m).
