Lionel Messi has received offers from Premier League clubs – report

The future of Lionel Messi remains a mystery even as we approach the season’s end. The Argentine has been courted by FC Barcelona, who are desperate to bring their prodigal son back to Camp Nou.

But without the approval of La Liga over the economic viability plan, Barça cannot move an inch. They have no idea of the club’s economic limitations this season and it will only be ascertained when they receive a formal approval from La Liga.

The authorities were supposed to send feedback earlier in the month. But they have taken more than usual, auditing and asking for more documents from Barça. This agonising wait has allowed other suitors to propose lucrative offers to Messi, with Saudi Arabian giants Al Hilal even willing to fork out €500 million per year.

According to Ole, even Premier League clubs have now started approaching the 35-year-old over a summer move to England. All of these clubs are ready to test the patience of the Argentine international, who still harbours the dream of returning to Camp Nou.

While it must be noted that Messi will not literally return to Camp Nou, as Barcelona will play at the Montjuic Stadium next season, the veteran is still keen on returning to his former club.

Barcelona, though, are facing a precarious situation and cannot make a formal offer until they receive approval from La Liga. But Messi is understood to be keen on finalising his future soon. Therefore, the upcoming weeks could be crucial as the Catalans look to gauge their economic limitations in the market.

The club have identified Messi as the priority once they register the contracts of Ronald Araujo and Gavi. But with time running out, the club must move swiftly and begin to sanction the sale of their unwanted stars, in an attempt to bring in some much-needed revenue.
