Lionel Messi’s departure from PSG has been sealed, Barça likely destination

Lionel Messi’s relationship with Paris Saint-Germain reached a new breaking point today after the attacker was suspended by the club for an unauthorised trip to Saudi Arabia.

With that in mind, Fabrizio Romano has come up with an update on the future of Messi. The Italian transfer expert claims Messi’s departure from PSG this coming summer has been sealed. He is certain the leave the club at the end of the season.

Romano points out how Messi’s father, Jorge Messi, had communicated the player’s desire to leave the club due to a lack of a sporting project a month ago.

As per Mundo Deportivo, Messi’s refusal to renew his contract at PSG, citing lack of a sporting project and an early elimination from the UEFA Champions League, did not go well with sporting director Luis Campos.

Unsurprisingly, it was Campos has pushed the hardest behind his recent suspension, in what can be considered an act of retribution.

Nevertheless, it appears Messi is destined to leave PSG, which should serve as a great boost for Barcelona. However, it must be mentioned that the Catalans are not faring all too well either.

There are ominous feelings inside the Barça club on whether or not the club can meet La Liga’s demands for FFP. The club were also recently rocked by the impending departure of Mateu Alemany, who will quit after the end of the season.

There are fears sporting director Jordi Cruyff may quit as well, potentially leading to a major executive shakeup, which in turn, could alter Barcelona’s plans.

However, the club have not lost hope and are trying their best to reduce the cost of the workforce and generate new salary, that may allow them to put out an official proposal for Messi. But with time running out, the attacker’s move to Saudi Arabia has not been ruled out either.
