Inaki Pena has signed a new contract with FC Barcelona, committing his future to the club until the summer of 2026, it has been officially confirmed.
The 24-year-old goalkeeper’s contract was expiring on June 30, which had sparked interest from clubs in Spain as well as outside.
Barça, though, had always been keen on renewing the Spaniard’s deal as they rate him very highly and see him as the ideal long-term successor to Marc-Andre ter Stegen.
Pena, for his part, had also been keen on renewing towards the end of last year, but his lack of involvement in the Copa del Rey since the turn of the year created some doubts.
In the end, though, the shot-stopper has inked a new deal for three years, which will keep him at Barcelona until 2026.

A product of the club’s youth academy, Pena made his first-team debut earlier this season in a UEFA Champions League match against Viktoria Plzen. Since then, he has added two more appearances to his tally, both coming in the cup competition.
With Pena’s renewal done and dusted, Barcelona will focus on the contract situations of other youngsters like Arnau Tenas, Alejandro Balde and Lamine Yamal and look to get those done and dusted at the earliest.
