Tottenham Hotspur star man Harry Kane has emerged as one of Real Madrid’s ‘favourite’ transfer targets, according to reports.
The Spurs record goal scorer’s contract expires in June 2024. Therefore, it’s likely he will be sold this summer so they avoid losing him on a free transfer.
Kane’s importance to Tottenham cannot be understated. However, with several top European clubs circling for his signature, everything is pointing towards him leaving the club.
It’s been an extremely underwhelming season for Spurs. Despite their 4-1 victory over Leeds on Sunday, they finished in eighth place – the first time they have missed out on European football since the 2009/10 season.
Although, Kane certainly had another impressive campaign. The England international netted 30 goals in 38 Premier League appearances, equalling his personal best.
This tally makes Kane only the second player ever to reach the 30-goal landmark more than once.
In his post-match interview on Sunday, the striker remained tight-lipped on his future, amid growing links to Manchester United.
However, it seems Erik ten Hag could face some heated competition for Kane, with Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid registering an interest in the 29-year-old.

Madrid join the race for Kane
According to Spanish outlet AS, Kane has become one of Real Madrid’s ‘favourite’ transfer targets, as they consider bringing in a ‘big-money’ striker.
AS claim Los Blancos are weighing up two options: firstly, whether to bring in a statement centre-forward signing. Or, alternatively, buy a cheap striker this summer so they can focus on signing Manchester City’s Erling Haaland or Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe in 2024.
Kane is reportedly one of three of Real Madrid’s ‘big-name’ targets, alongside Benfica’s Gonçalo Ramos and Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic.
The Spanish giants are ‘aware’ Kane won’t come cheap, though, with Tottenham demanding a fee in the region of €115m (approx. £99.7m).
But, Madrid are believed to have an advantage over Man Utd in the race, as Spurs would allegedly ‘prefer to sell him to a non-English club.’
However, Bayern Munich also hold an interest in Kane, so they could rival both Madrid and Man Utd for his signature.
For now, Tottenham will no doubt do everything they can to tie their star striker down to a new contract.
As mentioned, though, it’s very unlikely Spurs would be willing to let Kane run down his contract. So if they do fail to convince him to pen an extension, Madrid have a genuine chance of signing the Englishman.
