Manchester United are stepping up their efforts to land a new No.9 as they prepare to launch a £52million opening bid for a Serie A frontman, while a Tottenham man could take advantage of the riches on offer in Saudi Arabia by moving to Al-Hilal – all in the latest Euro Paper Talk.
TEN HAG STEPS UP STRIKER CHASE
Manchester United are reportedly ready to submit an opening offer of around £52million before bonuses to sign Atalanta star Rasmus Hojlund this summer.
The Danish sensation has emerged on the club’s radar as a cheaper alternative to both Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen.
Indeed, United have now completely ditched their interest in Tottenham and England star Kane after deciding that his £100m valuation was excessive.
A move for Napoli forward Osimhen has also been off the cards for a while after the Red Devils were quoted £130m for his services.
Being priced out of both those moves prompted Erik ten Hag to consider other options, with Hojlund widely considered as one of the best young prospects in European football.
The 20-year-old, who is a self-confessed United fan, admitted earlier in the week that he could be on the move this summer – heightening talk of a potential switch to Old Trafford.
And with Ten Hag telling the club’s hierarchy that adding a new No.9 is his top priority over the coming weeks, it appears that strides are being made to get Hojlund on board.
United to submit opening Hojlund bid
Indeed, reports in Italy claim that United will submit a £52m opening bid for Hojlund after initiating talks through intermediaries in recent weeks.
And while Atalanta are hopeful of recouping nearer to £63m, the two clubs are not far apart in their valuations.
Hojlund has been compared to Erling Haaland for his style of play and Scandinavian background.
He has scored 27 goals in 87 games in his relatively short career so far, as well as notching five times in just four games for Denmark.
