According to journalist Achraf Ben Ayad, FC Barcelona youngster Julian Araujo is ‘seriously considering’ the offer to join newly-promoted club UD Las Palmas on loan this summer.
Reports last week suggested that Las Palmas were gunning to sign the 21-year-old on loan for the upcoming campaign and it was indicated that a deal might be close to completion.
However, follow-up reports then claimed that it was not the case and that Araujo was keen on proving himself to Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez during the pre-season and staying at the club.
But, Achraf Ben Ayad is now reporting that Araujo might have had a change of heart as his game-time is likely to be limited in the upcoming campaign.
As things stand, Barça have Jules Kounde, Sergi Roberto and Sergino Dest as options at right-back, apart from the Mexican international. However, it must be noted that Dest could be offloaded if an offer comes along.
Even then, the La Liga champions are looking to bring in a new right-back with Joao Cancelo, Pablo Maffeo, and Ivan Fresneda all being possible targets.
As such, if Araujo stays at the club, the 21-year-old is likely to be way down the pecking order, given his zero experience in European football. So a loan move away would be the best course of action for the young right-back.
And Las Palmas could end up landing Araujo, who arrived at Barcelona in January but is yet to make his debut for the club as his signing was not ratified by FIFA due to delays in paperwork.
Playing under the guidance of former Barça Atletic manager Garcia Pimienta at Las Palmas could work out well for the Mexican international and it would also help the Blaugrana in the long run if he gets regular minutes and garners some much-needed experience.
