Barcelona have made some significant signings since the summer window opened in a bid complete all the reinforcements they want for the 2023-2024 season.
However, the Catalans now find themselves at the business end of the window, with departures looking to be just as crucial if they are to complete the acquisition of two final pieces of the puzzle: a right-back and another midfielder.
This hinges on easing the financial burden, and as reported by Mundo Deportivo, the club management are looking to finalise one big sale to carry on bolstering the roster.
To address the financial constraints and create space for manoeuvring in the transfer market, the club’s priority was to part ways with players currently on loan, which is taking shape nicely.
With the departure of Samuel Umtiti finalised, the departures of Nico Gonzalez, Alex Collado, and Clement Lenglet also seem to be on the horizon.
However, these moves alone are insufficient, as Barça require additional revenue to accommodate more players to bolster the squad.
President Joan Laporta recently disclosed that the club had received offers for eight players, including Pedri, Gavi, Ansu Fati, Ronald Araujo, Marc Andre ter Stegen, Raphinha, Andreas Christensen, and Alejandro Balde.
Nevertheless, Barcelona remain specifically focused on three names for potential departures: Ansu Fati, Ferran Torres, and Raphinha. Although all three players have expressed their desire to stay at the club, making their exits difficult, it will be tough for the Catalans to keep them if a lucrative enough offer comes in.
MD state that there have been speculations in the media about Arsenal offering €50 million for Ansu Fati, an amount that Barça deem to be insufficient.
With time ticking rapidly, the Catalans will have to make some tough decisions and cut their losses if they are to even fall in line with their financial viability plan before considering any more arrivals.
The club will also need to make sales to incorporate players like Ez Abde, who seems to have convinced Xavi to let him continue at the club.
