Barcelona have been working hard to try and offload players this summer but have not found great success so far. Pablo Torre has left on loan while Nico Gonzalez is close to signing for FC Porto on a permanent transfer with a buyback clause.
But, beyond that, not many exits seem to be progressing at this point, which is a concern as sales are key for the Catalans to bring in more new faces and register their summer arrivals.
One such player who is available for a transfer this summer but is yet to attract serious interest is Sergino Dest.
The USMNT international spent the last season out on loan at AC Milan and endured a disappointing campaign. While he has been named in the squad for the pre-season tour, it is widely expected that he will leave the club this summer.
And, now, as per SPORT, Barcelona are hoping that the pre-season friendlies help them attract suitors for Dest as soon as possible.
The player, for his part, has taken it upon himself as a challenge to convince Xavi and earn a place in the squad.
However, it does not seem like the Barça management see things the same way. Instead, the club hope that his performances in pre-season friendlies in the coming weeks help find interested parties.
Barcelona spent €21 million to sign Dest from AFC Ajax in 2020 but have made peace with the belief that they will be unable to recoup that amount from his sale.
And even though his current market value is around €10 million, the Catalan giants are happy to accept a sum lower than that if it means that Dest leaves the club.
The idea is that they get some amount for a player who is still young and has two years left on his contract with the club.
There had been rumours of interest from FC Porto, but it appears that they are instead signing Julian Araujo on loan. So, it remains to be seen if there are any takers for Dest and how much they would be willing to offer for him.
