Barcelona players recover from stomach bug, back in training ahead of Arsenal clash

In a great bit of news, Xavi Hernandez has the entire Barcelona squad at his disposal for training today, with players having recovered from the stomach bug that broke out over the weekend.

This update comes from RAC1, with the report stating that all the players affected by gastroenteritis have recovered and the whole squad is in training as Barça prepare to face Arsenal in a pre-season friendly later this week.

The Blaugrana were scheduled to kick off their pre-season tour on Saturday night with a game against Juventus. However, the match had to be cancelled as several players came down with a stomach bug.

Reports emerged claiming that as many as 15 players had fallen sick, including new signing Oriol Romeu and other players such as Eric Garcia, Jules Kounde, and Alejandro Balde.

As such, Barça were forced to call off the match, which potentially cost them €2 million in lost revenue.

However, the good news is that all players have fully recovered from gastroenteritis and Xavi now has a full squad at his disposal as Barcelona prepare for the friendly against Arsenal later this week.

The Catalan heavyweights will face off against the 2022/23 Premier League runners-up at the SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on Wednesday night (Thursday early morning in Spain).

The Gunners began their US tour with a dour display, losing 2-0 to Manchester United. And Barcelona will be aiming to replicate or even better that result when the two teams come face to face in Los Angeles in a couple of days.

The fans will certainly be looking forward to the match as they hope to get a look at new signings Ilkay Gundogan and Oriol Romeu in action in the Blaugrana colours. Inigo Martinez, however, is unlikely to be rushed back into action.
