Pablo Torre arrived at Barcelona a little over a year ago after a fine campaign with Racing Santander. The 20-year-old midfielder was brought into the first-team dynamics by Xavi Hernandez right away, but game-time was difficult to come by for the youngster.
After all, Torre was competing with established stars like Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi, Franck Kessie, and Sergi Roberto for minutes as a result of which he hardly played regularly.
Torre finished his debut season with just 13 senior appearances for Barcelona, scoring and assisting one goal apiece. With Ilkay Gundogan also joining the club this summer things will hardly improve for him in the upcoming campaign.
As such, Torre is set to leave Barcelona on loan this summer and MARCA is reporting that the youngster is attracting interest from three La Liga clubs – Girona, Valencia, and Villarreal.
Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez wishes for Torre to play regularly in the first division and gain valuable experience so that his progress and development do not end up stalling.
Villarreal have shown a strong interest in the 20-year-old starlet for weeks now as their manager Quique Setien knows him well and wants to have him on the roster for next season.
As for Valencia, they are on the lookout for midfield reinforcements after Nico Gonzalez’s loan stint expired and have set sights on Torre as an option.
Finally, Girona are also keen to sign the young midfielder and a deal could be worked out wherein Torre moves to the Catalan club on loan as part of the operation that sees Oriol Romeu join Barcelona.
Either way, what is certain is that Torre will leave on loan this summer and there is no shortage of suitors for the young midfielder. What remains to be seen is where the 20-year-old ends up, with the Spaniard in no hurry to make a decision about his next destination.
