Barcelona’s €100 million-rated Golden Boy open to future MLS move: “Life here is great”

Following Barcelona legend Lionel Messi’s transfer to Inter Miami earlier this summer, Major League Soccer (MLS) is attracting a lot of eyeballs, which hardly comes as a surprise.

Messi was soon joined by two more Barça icons in Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba at Inter Miami, as the MLS continues to boost its profile ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup to be hosted in USA, Canada, and Mexico.

Another former Barcelona star, Riqui Puig, also moved to the MLS last year and is enjoying life in the States.

And there is a growing belief that the league will continue to become a more attractive proposition for players in Europe in the years to come.

Amidst this, Barcelona midfield prodigy Pedri has admitted that he would be open to playing in the MLS in the future, once his time at the Catalan outfit has come to an end.

The 20-year-old midfielder, whose current market value stands at €100 million, is currently in the USA for Barça’s pre-season tour until the end of the month.

And Pedri has claimed that he would not be opposed to a move to the MLS in the future, after his time at Barcelona.

“Yes, it’s a league that’s fun to watch. Life here is great. There’s a lot to do. The cities here are incredible, and it piques the interest coming over here,” the youngster said, as quoted by ESPN FC.

Barcelona fans won’t have to worry about that prospect anytime soon as Pedri is tied down to a contract until 2026 and given that he is only 20, the Spanish wonderkid is likely to continue at the club for a much longer time.

The 2020 Golden Boy Award winner is expected to be in action later tonight when the La Liga champions take on Arsenal in a friendly.
