Journalist Javi Miguel has claimed that Barcelona’s operation to sign Joao Felix is fading with each passing day, adding that Xavi sees this transfer as extremely unreasonable both in terms of sporting as well as financial fit.
Felix’s links with Barcelona were renewed in recent weeks especially after the young forward admitted his love for the Catalans.
“I would love to play for Barça. Barcelona has always been my first choice and I would love to join them,” he said. “It was always my dream since I was a kid. If it happens, it will be a dream come true for me.”
Atletico Madrid have since distanced themselves from the forward and a lot has been said about the actuality of the situation. First, it was reported that Barcelona entered talks with Atletico Madrid but after knowing that the cost might rise upto €25 million, they decided to move aside.
It has been suggested that Atletico could be open to send Felix to Barcelona as part of an exchange operation involving the likes of Ferran Torres and Franck Kessie. But, such an operation does not appeal to Barça.
So as things stand, Felix is certainly not a priority for Barcelona. Regardless of the fact that everyone at the club appreciates the forward, the transfer is simply not feasible.
Meanwhile, if Barcelona and Atletico were to go ahead with the move, they would have needed permission from La Liga in the first place since both of them are struggling to comply with the Financial Fair Play implication.
As reported before, Atletico Madrid asked La Liga about the conditions needed to oversee Felix’s move to Barcelona, but the league administration made it absolutely clear that the Catalans are in no state to afford the player.
Judging by the look of things, Felix’s potential move to Barcelona now appears to be completely off the table.
