Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie’s potential sale this summer is gaining weight lately, with Juventus, in particular, showing the intent to bring the former AC Milan star back to Italy.
The Bianconeri are reportedly ready to sign Kessie on a loan deal, with an option to buy him next year for a fee of €15 million. Although the player is yet to make a decision on his future, everything suggests he may leave Barcelona this summer.
To that end, Gerard Romero has come up with an update on the future of Kessie, suggesting that the midfielder is preferring a move to the Premier League, despite the interest from Juventus.
Kessie, who has found himself on the receiving end of Barcelona’s squad overhaul this summer, is willing to take on a fresh challenge in the Premier League, after spending almost the entirety of his career in Italy.
The Ivorian was indeed a huge hit at Milan, while he has also had spells in Atalanta and Cesena. He has over 200 Serie A appearances to his name, with the player also racking up 41 goals and 16 assists.
At Barcelona, however, Kessie has not been able to realise his potential despite a relatively strong showing since the turn of the year. He could only muster seven league starts last term and with Ilkay Gundogan joining the club, his role in the team could dwindle further ahead of the new season.
With that in mind, Kessie might consider a move elsewhere, with Premier League emerging as his desired destination. The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Chelsea recently, but it appears Juventus have shown the most concrete interest among all European clubs so far.
And while Romero states that Kessie would prefer the Premier League, he is now thinking about a return to Italy, suggesting that the Ivorian could be open to a move to Serie A.
The coming weeks could prove to be crucial, as Barcelona look to negotiate a suitable exit for the midfielder.
