In a major development, MARCA is reporting that Ousmane Dembele will not join PSG by activating his €50 million release clause. Instead, he wants Barcelona to negotiate with the Ligue 1 champions and come to an agreement over a transfer.
Furthermore, it is even suggested that Dembele will travel to Las Vegas from Dallas with the rest of the squad tonight, after it had been speculated that the Frenchman might not be on the flight later tonight.
Dembele has a release clause worth €50 million in his contract with Barça and could leave by unilaterally activating it.
And with a contract agreement in place with PSG, it was expected that the clause will be activated before midnight today as the value of the exit clause rises to €100 million from August 1.
Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, was believed to have even spoken with La Liga to accelerate the procedure.
Dembele’s camp requests Barça to negotiate with PSG
Dembele wishes to depart from Barcelona on amicable terms and does not want to part ways by unilaterally triggering his €50 million release clause.
In fact, RAC1 is reporting that the 26-year-old’s entourage has sent Barça a letter requesting them to negotiate with PSG, which would suggest that the winger might not leave right away
The claim is thus in line with what MARCA is reporting, and it appears that Dembele will be flying to Las Vegas today with the squad.
The Frenchman is understood to have informed Barcelona director Mateu Alemany and former official Jordi Cruyff that he does not wish to unilaterally trigger the release clause and is now following up on the same.
In fact, building on that, Gerard Romero has now stated that the €50 million release clause will not be activated today as all documents are not ready at this time.
As such, following Dembele’s request, Barcelona will enter into negotiations with PSG over a transfer.
