Euro Paper Talk: Man Utd to gazump Chelsea, Tottenham in £68m striker chase after Hojlund shock; Arsenal to stun Real Madrid with €40m midfielder bid

Manchester United are ready to leapfrog the likes of Chelsea and Tottenham in the race to sign a £68m Serie A forward, while Arsenal could stun Real Madrid by landing a €40m Celta Vigo midfielder ahead of the LaLiga giants – both in Thursday’s Euro Paper Talk.

TEN HAG TURNS TO JUVENTUS HITMAN

Manchester United are reportedly eyeing a deal for Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic, after receiving a shock in their chase for Atalanta frontman Rasmus Hojlund.

The Red Devils have been chasing Serie A forward Hojlund for a number of weeks, but latest reports suggest that the player’s price tag has taken a massive leap.

That has led Erik ten Hag to explore other possibilities, and according to Thursday’s edition of Corriere dello Sport, the Red Devils United have joined the race for Vlahovic.

Chelsea are known to be leading the chase for the attacker, while Spurs are also considering him as a replacement for Harry Kane, who continues to be linked with both Bayern Munich and PSG.

The 23-year-old is said to be open to the idea of quitting Turin this summer and his style of play is well suited to the Premier League.

Vlahovic also has the ability to play as a No.9 or dropping into the No.10 position, although Ten Hag wants an out-and-out central striker on board.

The Serbia international has scored 75 goals in 198 career appearances but has not been quite as prolific as he would have hoped in Turin.

Vlahovic has scored 23 goals in 63 appearances for Juve, which is some way down on the goals-per-game ratio he managed at Fiorentina.

Juve striker a cheaper alternative for United

However, he is still regarded as one of the top young strikers in European football and would certainly not cost anything like the fees Tottenham and Napoli are demanding for Kane and Victor Osimhen.

Personal terms are also not expected to be an issue, with the player keen on a move to England. However, PSG could be a danger to United in the chase, especially if they fail to convince Kane that his future lies in Paris.

Vlahovic is said to favour a move to the French capital over any other this summer, although it appears what happens with Kane will have a big bearing on where the Serb eventually ends up.
