Pochettino in dreamland as Chelsea announce third signing and strike £75m agreement on transfer Man Utd won’t prevent

Chelsea have confirmed the arrival of a third player inside the last 24 hours, while a report claims a £75m move Man Utd won’t disrupt has cleared a crucial hurdle.

The bulk of deals at Stamford Bridge this summer are expected to come in the form of exits, not arrivals. Indeed, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly and N’Golo Kante have moved to Saudi Arabia, while Mateo Kovacic has joined Man City and Kai Havertz is now an Arsenal player.

Mason Mount will join Man Utd after Chelsea accepted a fourth United bid worth £60m (£55m plus £5m in add-ons). Ruben Loftus-Cheek has been unveiled at AC Milan, and the raft of exits won’t end there.

However, incomings are taking shape too, with Nicolas Jackson signed from Villarreal to the tune of £32m on Friday.

The Blues followed up by unveiling Alex Matos who arrived as a free agent from Norwich City earlier on Saturday. A quickfire third deal has now been confirmed.

An official club statement on Chelsea’s website read: “Portugal Under-21 international Diego Moreira has completed a move to Chelsea from Benfica”.

The Portuguese will join as a free agent, though the Blues will be on the hook for training fees down the line.

The 18-year-old plays primarily on the left wing, though can also deputise on the right. Moreira is currently representing Portugal at the European Under-21 Championship being held in Romania and Georgia. Once that tournament concludes, his new home will be west London.

Moreira is expected to slot straight into the club’s Premier League 2 side. However, a more readymade addition to Mauricio Pochettino’s ranks has accelerated.

Chelsea strike partial agreement for Moises Caicedo; personal terms set

Indeed, Fabrizio Romano reported on Thursday that Chelsea were primed to “attack” a move for Brighton destroyer, Moises Caicedo.

The Ecuador international, 21, was courted by both Chelsea and Arsenal in January, though Brighton stood firm and rejected several lucrative offers.

Varying sources speculated Man Utd could enter the frame this summer and put the two London clubs in the shade.

However, per Romano, Man Utd have no intention of moving for Caicedo now they’ve struck an agreement to sign Mason Mount.

With Arsenal pre-occupied with Declan Rice and Romeo Lavia, the door is ajar for Chelsea and per Italian journalist Rudi Galetti, a partial agreement has been reached.

Galetti tweeted talks between Brighton and Chelsea have reached the final stage after the clubs agreed a fixed transfer fee of £75m.

The final number will be boosted by add-ons and bonuses, with the two sides discussing how they’ll be structured and how much they’re worth.

Romano’s prior update stressed Caicedo has already said yes to Chelsea and agreed personal terms. As such, and with the transfer fee portion of the deal quickly progressing, Caicedo to Chelsea could soon be confirmed.
