Franck Kessie has been one of the key names circulating within the media among the list of players who have been labelled transferrable by Barcelona in this summer’s transfer window.
The Ivorian arrived on a free transfer, but as the Catalans face a race against time to balance their books, Kessie has been linked with a move away since the very beginning of the window.
Now, according to transfer journalist Rudy Galetti, Tottenham Hotspur have Kessie listed as one of the potential replacements for their Danish midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, who is reportedly on the verge of a move to Atletico Madrid.
Tottenham have previously also been linked with the Ivorian midfielder, who struggled to break into Xavi’s first team last season, but produced some very important performances en route to the La Liga and Super Cup titles.
In need of a dynamic and versatile midfielder, the North Londoners could benefit from Kessie’s arrival under what could be a revamped attacking setup under Ange Postecoglou.
While the challenge of the Premier League could be very appealing to Kessie, there seems to be demand across Europe for the 26-year-old, with the Serie A also seeming to be beckoning him for a return.
Earlier today, reports also emerged stating that Juventus are keen on securing his services, reportedly offering an initial fee of €10 million plus another €5 million in variables.
Having enjoyed great success with AC Milan previously, the prospect of a return to Italy could be a key factor in his decision if the deal moves along.
Kessie still has three years left on his deal and he has previously stated that he is intent on staying put and fighting for a place in the side for next season.
If the right offer were to arrive, however, Barcelona would be hard-pressed to reject it given their finances and the tight competition in midfield for the upcoming campaign.
