In a matter of 24 hours, Neymar Jr has shot up Barcelona’s wishlist. The Brazilian’s arrival was never on the cards for the Blaugrana but reports earlier today stated that he was closer than Bernardo Silva to joining Barcelona.

As revealed on Gerard Romero’s Twitch channel, Joan Laporta’s campaign manager Lluis Carrasco spoke about the possibility of the PSG star returning home.

“Of all the possible deals, I think Neymar’s signing is going to be the one that is going to happen,” he said, making a massive revelation about the club’s transfer plans.

Disagreement between Laporta and Xavi

It is no secret that the possibility of signing Neymar Jr is Laporta’s brainchild.

The Barcelona president sees the PSG star to be an ideal means to reinforce the forward line after the Parisiens’ operation to sign Ousmane Dembele.

Xavi, however, does not see eye to eye with the club president. The manager is against Neymar’s arrival and sees the Brazilian’s time as a Blaugrana to be over.

With Xavi prioritising Bernardo Silva and Laporta pushing for Neymar, it is clear that there is little calm in the Barcelona offices.

Neymar is desperate for a return to Barcelona

Neymar’s departure in 2017 left the world stunned, for the Brazilian was one of the crown jewels of the Blaugrana setup at the time.

Yet, he opted to step out of Lionel Messi’s shadow and make a name for himself. Six years later, it is safe to say that things have not panned out well for him.

The Brazilian regrets his decision to leave Catalonia and has pushed for a return home in every transfer window since then.

Brazilian superagent Andre Cury openly spoke about the player regretting his decision in a recent interview, saying: “Yes. He can’t speak for it now, but he does. Look at the confusion that there is now. There is no quiet or happy day.”

With Laporta’s own campaign manager now revealing that a return could be on the cards, one can expect a roller coaster ride through the rest of the summer for Barcelona.
