Speaking in an interview, Barcelona midfield prodigy Pedri has claimed that he would be open to playing in Gerard Pique’s Kings League if circumstances permitted.
The Kings League is a novel seven-a-side football competition started by Pique in conjunction with other football personalities and internet streamers after he retired from the game last year.
The rules of the game vary from that of a traditional football match and is gaining popularity within Spain since its inception in December last year.
Many footballing greats such as Iker Casillas and Sergio Aguero have been associated with the project as chairpersons of teams while some legends such as Ronaldinho and Andrea Pirlo, among others, have played in the competition.
Pedri enjoys the Kings League
And now, Pedri has claimed that he enjoys the Kings League competition and would have been open to playing in the tournament if circumstances allowed him to do so.
“As chairman, I have never thought about it. As a player… the truth is that I have. If I wasn’t in the context I’m in, playing for Barça, I can tell you that if I’d had the opportunity I would have gone for it,” he said, as quoted by MARCA.
“It’s a tournament that I like and it has a huge visibility. I really enjoy watching it,” he added.
While Pedri might have been open to the idea of playing in the Kings League, the 20-year-old is fully focused on succeeding at Barcelona.
At just 20 years of age, the Spaniard has a long career ahead of him and has a long contract with the Blaugrana as well.
Despite there have been murmurs of interest from PSG this summer, Pedri has never considered about an exit from Barça.
