Neymar continues to be a great point of interest for Barcelona and as we edge closer to the end of the transfer window, the possibility of him returning to Catalonia is only intensifying.
French media claims that the former Barcelona forward has been informed by Paris Saint-Germain that they do not have him in their plans for the next season.
At Barcelona, however, there is a difference in opinion regarding his potential return. Those sitting in the higher offices believe Neymar could be an economic coup. On the other hand, Xavi and his coaching staff do not want to break the team’s chemistry.
But it appears that the La Liga champions will explore the possibility of a move for the 31-year-old superstar.
Barcelona’s formula to sign Neymar
According to reports in England, as relayed by Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have devised a clever strategy to acquire Neymar this summer.
The Blaugrana entity has come up with a feasible plan to acquire the Brazil international. As such, they will approach PSG with a loan offer for the forward with a purchase obligation in the summer of 2024.
Considering his status at PSG, the Ligue 1 champions would be willing to let him leave for a fee reported to be around €60 million.
And as reported before, PSG are more than ready to be flexible to cater for his move to Barcelona.
At Barcelona, despite Xavi’s refusal, they see him as a commercial mine. The management is of the idea that Neymar’s arrival would entail new commercial agreements that would help to improve the club’s financial situation.
Meanwhile, speaking after Barcelona’s recent 4-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur in the Joan Gamper Trophy, Xavi was asked to comment on the entire speculation but the manager decided to avoid the questions.
“Neymar? I can’t say anything, he is on another team. But the transfer window is open until the end of the month, I can’t say anything,” he said.
Another possibility that has been floated is that Neymar signs for a Saudi Arabian club, from where he would be loaned out to Barcelona for a year.
With PSG doing their best to force him out of the club, it will be interesting to see whether the 31-year-old superstar ends up sealing a return to his old stomping grounds.
