Journalist Albert Roge has confirmed that Barcelona have finalized the transfer of 19-year-old academy winger Estanis Pedrola to Sampdoria on a season-long loan with a mandatory purchase option worth €3 million.
The reporter adds that Barça have reserved a €7 million buyback clause until 2025 and have also reserved a percentage of the future sale for the teenager, who has made only one senior appearance for the team.
Xavi told Pedrola to find a new home
While Estanis has only managed a solitary appearance for Barcelona’s first team, his performances for Barça Atlètic since joining the team in 2021 have been quite prolific.
In fact, during the 2022- 23 season, the 19-year-old scored eight goals in 23 outings.
But with no place in the senior team for the 2023-24 season and Barcelona in urgent need to generate income, he was told to find a new home as soon as he can by none other than Xavi.
Plenty of admirers
We have reported before that ever since Barcelona put Pedrola on the market, teams have been lining up to acquire his services. This includes La Liga and Eredivisie clubs like Valencia, Celta Vigo, PSV Eindhoven, and AZ Alkmaar.
Only a week back, news emerged that Real Valladolid have approached with an attractive offer.
Simultaneously, the likes of Cadiz and Osasuna were also said to be pushing hard for his acquisition as well.
Apart from a few French teams, there were also rumours that he might as well end up joining Pablo Torre at Girona on loan.
But after all the hustle and bustle, the 19-year-old has ended up signing for Sampdoria instead, where he will aim to get as many first-team opportunities as he can.
