Barcelona’s interest in Bernardo Silva has been known for a long time now. The Catalans were pushing to sign the midfielder even last summer but were forced to impede the operation owing to financial constraints.

Ousmane Dembele’s untimely exit has reignited rumours of the Manchester City star’s arrival once again in the current window with reports stating that Barcelona are willing to go all out for him.

Pep Guardiola recently spoke about the Barcelona target and his importance in the current Manchester City setup. He labelled the Portuguese star as ‘irreplaceable’, as revealed by Fabrizio Romano.

“They are so important to us. We want them to stay here and will do everything,” he said talking about Silva and Kyle Walker, who is a target for Bayern Munich.

“We will do everything. Replacing these two would be so difficult…”

Specifically quizzed about Barcelona’s interest in signing the creative midfielder, Guardiola took a firm stance on his position with the player.

“I don’t want any players who don’t want to be here. But we need to get a proper offer, we didn’t get a proper offer. If they want him, they will get on a plane and come to meet our club.”

Earlier today, sources claimed that the Blaugranas were willing to table an offer worth €65 million plus €10 million in variables for Silva. The deal is said to be a three-year contract worth around €10 million to €11 million in wages.

Sudden sources of revenue

Bernardo Silva appeared to be out of reach given the Catalans’ tight budget this summer. However, recent developments have given them sufficient inroads.

Ousmane Dembele’s departure will feth the Blaugranas just over €25 million in fees while Franck Kessie’s exit is expected to add another €15 million to their coffers.

The aforementioned €40 million along with the activation of certain economic levers is expected to help Barcelona get over the line.

However, it remains to be seen if the club still have enough budget to sign a right-back after incorporating Silva.
