Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has said that the philosophy of the Ligue 1 is such that the club always comes above the players and coaching staff, adding that whatever decision is taken with Neymar will be reflected in a few days.
Neymar, whose market value stands at €60 million, has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona ever since it was revealed that Enrique does not have him in his plans for the next season.
Now, a lot has been said about the Brazilian’s return to Catalonia but nothing looks certain yet. However, Enrique’s recent words in a pre-match press conference paint a pretty straightforward picture of what lies in store.
“The philosophy of this club is very clear, it is above all players and coaches. As for the Neymar issue, I make it a rule to keep conversations with players private. My actions will say more than my words,” he was quoted by Mundo Deportivo.
Is an agreement imminent?
Thanks to a recent capital influx of around €120 million in the accounts from new investors in exchange for the sale of 29.5% shares of Barça Vision, Barcelona suddenly find themselves in clear waters.
As reported before, Neymar is already in talks with PSG over the termination of his contract and although there is an approach from Saudi Arabia, the player prefers to stay in Europe as he only wants to join Barcelona.
The talks are in a crucial state and there is, in fact, a slight chance that PSG might as well allow him to leave for free this summer.
Where are Barcelona in it?
The Barcelona management and coaching staff continue to have a difference of opinion over Neymar’s acquisition.
It is believed that those sitting in higher offices consider Neymar an economic coup.
The Brazilian’s arrival would attract investors and this way, the team can get their finances back on track.
Xavi and his coaching staff, however, feel the Brazilian is not a right fit for the current set of players. But the club remain hopeful that the manager will eventually come around and give the green light to the operation.
