Official: Ferran Torres is Barcelona’s new No. 7, Raphinha gets No. 11

Only yesterday, it was reported that Barcelona winger Raphinha had requested to be given the No. 11 jersey while Ferran Torres wanted the No. 7 shirt as Ousmane Dembele was bound for the exit doors.

Now, the new shirt numbers have been officially confirmed on La Liga’s website, with Torres now becoming Barcelona’s new No. 7 while Raphinha will don the No. 11 kit moving forward for the Blaugrana.

This comes in light of Dembele’s imminent transfer to PSG, with an official announcement expected to be made soon.

Torres used to wear No. 7 during his youth career at Valencia, while he also donned the iconic shirt number at times for the Spanish national team.

With Dembele now vacating it, the 23-year-old, who has earned a second shot at the club on the back of his pre-season form, is now Barcelona’s new No. 7.

As for Raphinha, the 26-year-old Brazilian international regards the #11 kit as special for him and wears it with the Brazilian national team. Now, he will get to do so with the Blaugrana as well, moving from the No. 22 he wore last season.

While the pair will be getting the new kit numbers, they must also take greater responsibility moving forward with Dembele no longer at the club.
