As Barcelona continue to chase Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo, a report from Mundo Deportivo has emerged that the Portuguese’s agent, Jorge Mendes, has assured Barça that the signing of the 29-year-old is ‘almost a done deal’.
Cancelo is the frontrunner in Barcelona’s pursuit of a right-back. Now, there are other alternatives such as Ivan Fresneda and Joan Foyth but the management is either not too sure about one or the operation is too expensive for the other.
As far as Cancelo is concerned, Xavi is said to be the 29-year-old’s admirer and considering the fact that he has no place at Man City, a deal is, indeed, possible.

Considering the current state of finances, Barcelona are largely expected to approach this transfer in a different way.
The growing sense of belief is that the Blaugrana entity will chase a loan deal with an affordable purchase option.
