Lamine Yamal and Fermin Lopez have made quite an impact in the Barcelona first team this season so much so that they are now considered as part of the senior team, reports Jordi Gill via SPORT.
The journalist adds to his report that the La Masia duo will now hardly play for the reserve team, i.e., Barça Atletic, as the plan is now to give them as much exposure as possible.
Fermin’s presence in the Barcelona team that faced Mallorca a couple of days back was extremely decisive.
The 20-year-old, who replaced Oriol Romeu in the 64th minute, took a little more than 10 minutes to score his first senior goal, something that allowed Barça to pull off a draw.
Yamal is a gem
In just a mere two months, Yamal has swiftly emerged as one of La Liga’s most formidable talents.
His astonishing knack for dismantling opposing defences is nothing short of remarkable, especially considering he’s just 16 years old.
During the match against Mallorca, his presence on the field sent shivers down the spines of the opposition. The moment he stepped onto the pitch, the teenage wonderkid caused all sorts of problems for the hosts’ defence at Son Moix.
His introduction left an indelible mark, with Mallorca conceding a penalty, only to see it nullified by VAR.
Lopez growing into his role
Unlike Yamal, Fermin happens to be more seasoned. At the tender age of 20, he displayed remarkable courage by accepting a loan offer from Linares in the RFEF First Division last season.
This decision saw him step out of the cosy confines of Barça Atlètic and embark on a thrilling journey into an uncertain future.
Fermin’s gamble, however, proved to be a resounding success. During his time at Linares, he graced the pitch in 37 matches and netted an impressive tally of 12 goals.
These accomplishments are nothing short of astonishing for a 20-year-old who primarily operated as a midfielder.
Fermin has now become an essential part of the rotation, especially with Pedri and Frenkie de Jong sidelined due to injuries in the midfield.
Meanwhile, Lamine stands out as the player with exceptional one-on-one skills, rivalled only by Joao Félix.
Judging by their impact this season, it is unlikely that they will return to playing with the second team anytime soon.
