Former Barcelona star backs deadline-day signing to adapt at club: “Will achieve it”

Former Barcelona forward Pedri has claimed that new signing Joao Felix will adapt at the club following his deadline-day loan move from Atletico Madrid.

The 23-year-old Portuguese international arrived at Barça in the late hours of the summer transfer deadline day.

Having made his debut against Osasuna before the international break, Felix made his first start for the club this past Saturday against Real Betis and even got his first goal in a thumping 5-0 win.

There had been a lot of skepticism surrounding Felix’s move to Barcelona given that he had failed to adapt at Atletico Madrid and had not tasted much success during his loan stint at Chelsea.

But Pedro, whose Lazio side face Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League this week, has claimed that the Portuguese international will settle in well at Barça.

As quoted by SPORT, he said: “Sometimes it is difficult to adapt to an idea of football, but at Barça he will achieve it. It’s a pity we didn’t see him at Atlético.”

The Lazio attacker also sent his best wishes to Xavi and Barcelona, saying: “Barça have strengthened very well. I have many friends there and in general in La Liga. On Tuesday I will meet some of them again. I wish the best of luck to Barça and to Xavi, who is my friend.”

The former La Masia ace also commented on his ex-teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba’s move to Inter Miami, saying:

“They are very good, they are delighted and winning every game. They have made a very good choice”.

Signing off, Pedro admitted that he is happy to be playing “against a Spanish team” like Atléticio, although he preferred “to play against Barcelona, it would have been very nice.”
