Mary Earps wants to leave Man Utd, who are looking at Phallon Tullis-Joyce as a replacement
Manchester United Women have been dealt a blow with the news that goalkeeper Mary Earps is considering leaving the club. Meanwhile, an Arsenal player's loan move has fallen through, and Liverpool have revealed the figures behind their record signing.
EARPS EAGER TO LEAVE MANCHESTER UNITED
Mary Earps is believed to be leaning towards a departure from Manchester United, according to reports.
Into the final year of her contract, Earps has already been the subject of a record goalkeeper bid by Arsenal this summer. Now, the prospect of losing her for free next year will be weighing on Man Utd minds.
According to The Athletic, it appears that the England number one is ‘wanting to leave’ Manchester United rather than renew her contract.
A revived attempt by Arsenal to sign her before the WSL transfer window closes on September 14 is not necessarily expected – nor is any kind of move over the next week. However, in 2024, Earps could have her pick of next club.
In response, Man Utd will have to find a new goalkeeper. On that front, the Daily Mail claims they are keen to sign Phallon Tullis-Joyce from OL Reign in the USA’s NWSL.
Tullis-Joyce, 26, has been with OL Reign since her 2021 departure from Reims. She has never been capped by the USWNT, but Man Utd have not been able to meet her current club’s valuation yet.
Despite their interest in Tullis-Joyce, they are maintaining that Earps is not for sale. However, if she fails to agree a new contract despite the club making that their priority, they may come back to regret that stance.
Earlier this year, Man Utd lost Alessia Russo on a free transfer to Arsenal just months after rejecting a world-record bid for her.
The Athletic has clarified that Arsenal ‘are not pushing as hard’ for Earps as they did for Russo, while also denying they made a second bid for the keeper. Nevertheless, the 30-year-old could have plenty of options open if she runs down her deal.
HIGH DEMANDS BLOCK GIO’S ARSENAL EXIT
A deal for Giovana Queiroz to leave Arsenal for Atletico Madrid has fallen through, Spanish reports have revealed.
El Partido De Manu claims that ‘high expectations’ from the winger’s entourage prevented the deal from being viable for Atletico.
The Brazil international previously developed in their academy between 2014 and 2017, before setting out on a senior career that has taken in the likes of Madrid CFF, Barcelona B, Levante, Arsenal and Everton.
Her next step could have been a return to the Spanish capital, but the move is now blocked after Atletico signed Ana-Maria Crnogorcevic from Barcelona instead and the transfer window in their country closed.
The 20-year-old would have been heading to Liga F on loan, but will have to find another way to develop over the coming months.
She was an unused substitute for Arsenal in their Champions League win over Linkoping on Wednesday.
VALUE OF LIVERPOOL RECORD SIGNING REVEALED
Liverpool announced the club-record signing of Sophie Roman Haug from Roma on Wednesday evening and reports in Italy have disclosed the figures behind the deal.

According to Il Romanista, Matt Beard’s side are believed to have paid €125,000 (about £107,300) for Roman Haug’s signature. Furthermore, the Serie A Femminile champions have secured the right to a sell-on clause.
The €125,000 fee matches the value of Serie A Femminile’s record export, which was set when Lina Hurtig went from Juventus to Arsenal last year. That deal did not have a sell-on clause, though, so the Roman Haug deal will become a new record outgoing for the Italian league – just as it is a record buy for Liverpool.
After taking the number 10 shirt at her new club, Roman Haug told their official website: “I’m really excited to be here and I can’t wait to get started.
“I feel like it was the right next step for me. I got a really good impression of the club and I believe they’re building something big here and I would really like to be a part of it.
“It’s a club with a lot of long traditions and with a lot of ambition. I really hope this season to be able to contribute with a lot of goals and I have a lot of faith that the team will do a great season.
“I’m excited to be able to play in what could be the biggest league in the world too. If we get off to a good start and get momentum, we’re going to be a tough team to beat.”
