Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles is a target for Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab before the close of their transfer window later this week, footballboast understands.
Al-Shabab, who are close to signing Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Carrasco, are in the market for a new centre-back before the transfer window closes on September 7th and Newcastle man Lascelles is on their wanted list.
Lascelles has not started any of Newcastle’s opening four Premier League games so far this season with the defender only making a late cameo in last weekend’s defeat to Brighton.
The 29-year-old is currently fourth-choice centre-back in Eddie Howe’s plans and although he is happy at St James’ Park he could be tempted by a move away in search of regular first-team football.
Lascelles is in the final year of his contract at Newcastle and this could be the final opportunity to cash in on the centre-back rather than potentially losing him for free next summer.

Al-Shabab are ready to test Newcastle’s resolve to keep hold of Lascelles as they weigh up an offer for the former Nottingham Forest man.
It remains to be seen if Newcastle would consider letting Lascelles leave as Howe would not want to leave his squad short with the club competing on four fronts this season with the rigours of the Champions League set to test Newcastle’s squad.
