Giovani Lo Celso is still a target for Galatasaray

Turkish giants Galatasaray have reportedly made a formal offer to sign a Tottenham midfielder Ange Postecoglou does not want to leave.

Despite the summer transfer window now being closed for incomings in England, several countries still have the opportunity to sign players and potentially cause carnage to Premier League clubs.

Indeed, in Turkey the window remains open for signings until September 15 and top clubs there are still looking to England’s top flight to potentially snap up some bargains.

And, according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Galatasaray have been chasing Spurs star Giovani Lo Celso since July and are still keen on landing the Argentine.

However, Romano adds that Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is doing all he can to convince Lo Celso to stay in north London as he rates the player and has plans to use him this season.

Indeed, the 27-year-old was not thought to be one of several players Spurs were looking to offload on deadline day.

Sergio Reguilon and Japhet Tanganga did move on, joining Manchester United and Augsburg respectively on loan. But it was never the club’s intention to let Lo Celso leave after his impressive performances for Postecoglou in pre-season.

Lo Celso still a major part of Postecoglou plans

Speculation over the Argentina international’s future heightened on Saturday when he was left out of the squad to face Burnley, although Postecoglou revealed that Lo  Celso suffered a quad strain in the Carabao Cup loss to Fulham.

At this stage, it’s also unclear whether Galatasaray’s offer to sign the player is a permanent one or on loan.

However, it appears that any bid will be knocked back, as Postecoglou does not want to weaken his squad now that he cannot add to it again until January.

Spurs, who are flying in the Premier League under their new manager, are not back in action again until September 16 due to the international break. They will host Sheffield United looking to make it four wins from five top-flight outings so far this season.
