Barcelona sporting director to travel to Brazil to assess Vitor Roque’s condition – report

It goes without saying that Vitor Roque is one of Barcelona’s major targets for the January transfer window.

Although the Brazilian has signed for the team, his arrival, as per the contract, is scheduled for next summer, but the Blaugrana are doing everything in their power to prepone his advent.

For that matter, Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo has suggested that during the next break, which starts on October 9, sporting director Deco will personally travel to Brazil to meet with the 18-year-old.

What is the agenda?

The Barça sports director is eager to offer his full support and closely monitor the player’s recovery progress following the injury he suffered against Internacional in a league match.

Meanwhile, Deco is also keen on engaging with the Athletico Paranaense medical staff, who have been in regular contact with the Barcelona team over the past week and a half.

As of today, the decision made by the Athletico Paranaense doctors to opt for conservative treatment instead of surgery is deemed appropriate by Barcelona’s medical staff.

Deco will inform Roque about the tight finances

The outlet says that Deco will brief the forward on Barcelona’s financial situation for his potential January registration as he holds strong belief in the player’s ability to excel as a Barcelona player.

As far as the manager is concerned, he also places trust in Roque for the upcoming crucial phase of the season, which includes multiple title opportunities.

What’s the plan of action?

It is said that Deco has held meetings with Ferran Olive, the treasurer of Barcelona and a key figure in Joan Laporta’s trusted financial team. At the moment, the pivotal point remains the €40 million owed to Barça by the German fund Libero Football Finance.

If Libero Football Finance fulfils its obligation, it would pave the way for Vitor Roque’s arrival, a development that Deco aims to convey directly to the player himself.

At Barcelona, and particularly from Deco’s perspective, it is clear that they must create additional financial room to facilitate Vitor Roque’s acquisition in January. And for that, the pending payment from Libero is crucial.
