Barcelona superstar comments on his availability for Granada clash after knock vs Porto

Having already lost the likes of Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and Raphinha to injuries, Barcelona were hit with yet another concern last night when Robert Lewandowski had to be taken off against FC Porto.

The 35-year-old superstar suffered a knock on his left leg after being at the receiving end of a rough challenge by David Carmo in the first period.

Even though he tried to carry on, it was not possible and Lewandowski ended up making way for eventual match-winner Ferran Torres in the 34th minute.

Lewandowski issues update

Lewandowski, who is Barcelona’s leading goalscorer in the ongoing campaign, was seen limping off the pitch after his substitution.

Following that, he spent most of his time on the bench icing the affected area. Even then, the Poland captain was still seen with a limp when he left the stadium to get on the team bus.

At this point, he was approached by Adria Albets, who asked the striker about his availability for the game against Granada later this weekend.

And, Lewandowski issued a short response, saying: “We will see.”

What did Xavi say?

During his post-match press conference, Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez was also asked for an update on Lewandowski’s condition and he said: “He has a knock, we will see if he recovers.”

As things stand, Lewandowski is not entirely ruled out of the game against Granada away at Los Carmenes on Sunday night.

The 35-year-old will undergo further tests at the club’s Ciutat Esportiva facilities today following which an update on his condition should arrive.

Given that Barça are already with three key players in Raphinha, Pedri, and Frenkie de Jong, they will hope that they do not lose Lewandowski as well to an injury.
